Jim McGrath, representing the City of Pittsfield, asked the Community Preservation Committee on March 16 to consider funding repairs to an existing fishing hut and maintenance of the southern boardwalk at Wild Acres. McGrath said the work is part of broader dam maintenance and explained that the park remains open year-round and is well used.
Committee member David Pill questioned whether portions of the boardwalk would be elevated above the ground in places because of the terrain, and he emphasized accessibility as an ongoing concern. McGrath noted that an ADA trail was installed at Wild Acres in a prior season by the nonprofit Greenagers and said the boardwalk maintenance would consider access issues.
The committee took no formal vote on the Wild Acres application at the March 16 meeting. The item was presented among other project proposals; committee staff indicated additional presentations and items will be heard the following week.
