Webb City Council approves December bills, tables AgState permit; Hansen signals retirement

The Webb City Council met at 7 p.m. Dec. 10 and unanimously approved minutes from the November regular meeting, the November Treasurer’s Report and payment of the bills listed for December 2024. Councilmember Trudy Ganzevoort moved to approve the minutes, and Cavon Riley seconded; the motion passed with all present voting aye. Riley moved to approve the treasurer’s report, seconded by Morgan Gibson; that motion also passed unanimously.
The council authorized payment of the December bills as presented. The meeting record lists line-item general-fund payroll and vendor charges—including Mayor Katie Mader’s payroll at $1,267.00 and a reported subtotal of $4,877.68 for the general items—and separate totals for the garbage fund ($1,125.00) and a road-use street-lights charge ($477.41). These invoices were approved under a motion by Ganzevoort, seconded by Tom Hansen, with all present voting aye.
City Clerk Angie Smith reported on routine items. Smith provided an update on the past-due utilities report (amounts were not specified in the minutes) and noted there were no new items for the water system, the north area of the library building, or emergency training. Council members discussed excess limestone on town roads under the street-repairs item but did not record a timetable or motion to address specific work.
On lawn care for 2025, the council asked the clerk to obtain quotes for park spraying; no vendor was selected and no dollar amounts were recorded. A building-permit request from AgState was brought up and tabled until January on a motion by Cavon Riley, seconded by Mayor Katie Mader; all present voted to table the item.
Councilmember Tom Hansen said he would like to retire from the council; members discussed possible replacement candidates but recorded no formal nomination or appointment. Other business included unspecified items for the city newsletter. The meeting was adjourned on a motion by Hansen, seconded by Gibson, with all present voting aye.
