The Westbury Union Free School District Board of Education met July 8 and voted unanimously to ratify Resolution 60, described by the board as "ratification of an agreement with an employee," following a personnel executive session.
Board President Robert Troianna called the meeting to order and said the board would enter executive session to discuss personnel and a separate hiring matter. The board first entered an executive session to discuss hiring a professional firm, then returned to open session before later re-entering for the personnel matter that led to Resolution 60.
Before the personnel discussion, the board approved minutes for June 5, June 9 and June 16 (resolutions 1e, 1f and 1g) after a motion and unanimous vote. The board then moved to block-vote the remainder of the agenda with the explicit exception of Resolution 60; that block and the items contained within it were approved unanimously.
The meeting included a public-comment period, which the board opened and closed after hearing no speakers. After the personnel executive session, the board moved, seconded and voted to approve Resolution 60. The board recorded unanimous "ayes" on the motion.
"Greetings, Westbury family," the district clerk said at the start of the meeting, and attendees later stood for the Pledge of Allegiance. The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn and a unanimous vote to end the session for the evening.
Trustees recorded on the roll call during the meeting included Trustee Mateo Flores; Trustee Michelle Wilson; Trustee Rodney Kanes; Trustee Dr. Plais Dickerson; Trustee Robin Bolling; and Vice President Ewing. The board president presided and cast the recorded aye that completed the unanimous tallies. No specific terms of the personnel agreement were read into the public record during the open session.
Next steps: none specified on the record; the board adjourned and will revisit any follow-up items at a future meeting as required by district procedure.
