Michiana council accepts tournament proceeds and approves financial reports

Organizers of Michiana’s 2024 pickleball tournament reported Nov. 8 that, after expenses, they were giving the Village a check for $4,258. Sally McDonald told the council the tournament raised $4,000 and an additional community give‑back day by Zorn’s Brewery yielded $258; she proposed dates and facility improvements but the council did not set tournament dates during the meeting.
Separately, Treasurer Tracey McCay presented the treasurer’s report showing the Pokagon Fund balance of $45,536; Councilmember Tim McCarthy moved to approve the treasurer report and the motion passed. Clerk Anne Heywood presented a check register totaling $144,527.04; Tim McCarthy moved to approve the check register, Nancy Thill seconded, and the council approved the register.
The council thanked organizers for equipment donations (cranks and a squeegee) and for offering to fund facility improvements such as hand dryers for restrooms and keypad access for bathrooms; further decisions on those proposals were deferred.
