Students demonstrate CDL simulator; principal unveils industry credential graduation pathways

At the April 17 Northern Local Schools Board meeting, Mr. Lones and three students demonstrated the district's virtual Commercial Driver's License simulator, explaining it was provided through a grant partnership with Mid‑East Vocational School and that Mid‑East will coordinate required in‑vehicle training once students obtain permits.
High School Principal Lisa Householder told the board she has drafted Industry Credential Pathways for the 2025‑26 school year based on student surveys. The pathways list Health; Business, Market & Finance; Manufacturing; Education; Ag/Environmental Science; Hospitality; Construction; and Information Technology. Householder said the pathways include partnerships with local employers and higher education institutions — named partners in the presentation included Genesis Healthcare, Zane State College, Performance Training Solutions and Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committees — so students can earn industry credentials before or upon graduation.
The board received the demonstrations and the presentation as information during the meeting.
