Webb City Council approves $4,351.42 in bills; sets Halloween trick-or-treat hours

The Webb City Council met Sept. 9, 2024, and approved routine business including the minutes, the treasurer’s report and payment of the September bills totaling $4,351.42.

Council Member Gibson moved to approve the minutes from the August regular meeting; Council Member Hansen seconded and all present voted aye. Council Member Tim Sylvester moved to approve the August Treasurer’s Report; Council Member Hansen seconded and all present voted aye. Council Member Gibson moved and Council Member Tim Sylvester seconded to authorize payment of the new bills listed by the clerk; all present voted aye.

The list of bills presented by the clerk showed $2,225.29 in the General fund and other items including a Local Option Tax payment of $630.63 for the Clay County Sheriff’s Office quarterly law enforcement contract, $1,000.00 to Grow’s Garbage (garbage and recycling), and $495.50 for Alliant Energy street lights. The transcript lists payroll and vendor line items but does not record discussion of individual charges.

City Clerk Angie Smith provided an update on the past-due utilities report; the transcript does not specify amounts or particular accounts in arrears. The council received brief status updates that there was nothing to report on street repairs, the water system, or the north area of the library building.

Clerk Smith also reminded officials to complete required emergency training. The council announced that bids for snow removal will be accepted at the next regular meeting on Oct. 14, 2024, and set trick-or-treat hours for Oct. 31 from 5–7 p.m. Grant options were mentioned but no specific grant or funding direction was recorded.
