Northern Local board approves November financials, budget adjustments and vendor agreements

The Northern Local Schools Board approved the November 2024 financial reports, budget adjustments moving FY24 Title I and IV balances into FY25, accepted donations and authorized a technology-provider agreement with EGSI, LLC. Several procurement and membership items were also approved.
The Northern Local Schools Board of Education approved a slate of finance items at its Dec. 12 meeting, including the November 2024 financial reports and several budget adjustments shifting FY24 Title I-A and Title IV-A balances into FY25.
Treasurer Jennie Clifton presented the financial reports and recommended board approval of Then and Now certificates for purchases that included Ohio State University College Credit Plus materials, Scholastic book fair orders and athletic apparel. The board also approved membership in the Perry County Chamber of Commerce for 2025 and a memorandum of understanding with Zane State College for College Credit Plus in 2025–26.
The board approved appropriations including a $506,016 addition to the Permanent Improvement fund and an increase to the Girls Basketball activity account. It accepted donations including $500 from an anonymous donor to Thornville Elementary, Cricket Expressions donated by Alicia Sturgeon to Glenford Elementary, and toothbrushes from Chase Smith/Thornville Dental for Thornville kindergarten classes.
The board also authorized a technology services agreement with EGSI, LLC as presented. All motions in this section were moved by Mrs. Sharon Cains, seconded by Mr. Levi Dupler and passed by a 3–0 roll-call vote.
The board returned to open session from an earlier audit executive session at 6:57 p.m. and proceeded with the finance business. No additional fiscal contingencies or conditions were recorded in the public minutes.
