State broadband office announces new $60 million state grant round, webinar set for June 8

Rory, a representative of the state broadband office, told the Governor’s Task Force on Broadband Access that the office is opening a new state grant round with about $60,000,000 available.
"We are opening a new state grant round. So we've got about $60,000,000 of funding available," Rory said, adding that the total combines underspent program funds and unallocated bond funds. He said the office will host a webinar on June 8 and that the application deadline is at the end of July.
Rory said the broadband office has executed roughly a third of its subrecipient grant agreements so far and expects to finalize most remaining agreements in the next three to four weeks, ahead of the formal early-August deadline for execution. He also said the office has begun receiving NEPA documentation for some projects and is conducting NEPA reviews.
The broadband office will post grant instructions and a project map on its website and planned to put links to the webinar and application materials into the meeting chat. The announcement emphasized state program requirements rather than federal rules for this particular round.
Next steps: the broadband office will accept applications through the end of July, hold the June 8 webinar with application instructions, and continue NEPA reviews and agreement execution with subrecipients.
