Residents form Libby Museum Preservation Society to pursue reopening after Article 25 passage

During public input on May 6, residents announced formation of the Libby Museum Preservation Society (LMPS) to pursue reopening and reimagining the Libby Museum after voters approved Warrant Article 25 in March.
Suzanne Ryan, identified as the sponsor of Article 25, said LMPS intends to be the successive trustees for the Libby Museum and to raise funds to restore the building or rebuild a replica, operate a revived museum under the name Libby Museum Discovery Center, and continue the museum’s mission of natural history education for the Lakes Region. Sebastian Tordonato read a statement including participation by Madeline Long of North Main Café.
Ryan invited the trustee liaison, Selectman Brian Deshaies, to facilitate a meeting with current trustees, Friends of the Libby and LMPS to establish a plan to carry forward Dr. Libby’s gift and return the museum to community use. The announcement was recorded as public comment and no formal board action was taken at the meeting.
