Lowcountry Pickleball Leagues granted Burton Wells use, fee waiver for November turkey-drive fundraiser

Fenlon told the board the league’s membership raised about $8,500 during the prior fundraiser and said that money helped provide hundreds of meals over Thanksgiving and Christmas. He described tournaments as volunteer-run, with less than 1% of revenue used for administrative costs such as medals and printing.
Chair asked for discussion and then called for a motion to waive facility fees for the event. A board member moved and another seconded; the board approved the fee waiver by voice vote. The chair asked the league to provide a follow-up evaluation the next time it requests similar fee relief.
The board’s approval was a voice vote; individual roll-call votes were not recorded in the meeting minutes. The board’s action allows the league to use Burton Wells for the fundraiser with a reduced cost burden and supports distribution through 2nd Helpings.
Next steps: the applicant will be scheduled at Burton Wells for the requested Nov. 7–8 dates and is expected to provide a post-event reconciliation and evaluation when it next requests fee relief.
