Council declines to remove Planning & Zoning commissioner; pulls District 4 appointment from agenda

The Zachary Mayor and Council held a public hearing on Jan. 27 to consider removal of Planning & Zoning Commissioner Jason Floyd (District 4) and subsequently voted on the matter.
During the public hearing, councilmembers discussed Commissioner Floyd’s attendance record. The council then voted on a motion to remove Mr. Floyd; the motion did not pass (Yeas: James Graves, Jennifer Landry; Nays: Brandy Westmoreland, John LeBlanc, Ambre DeVirgilio). As a result, no removal was approved that evening.
Separately, the council considered appointment of Randy Albarez to the Planning & Zoning Commission (District 4). The council voted to remove that appointment item (I6B) from the agenda; the motion to remove the item passed 3–2 (Yeas: Westmoreland, LeBlanc, DeVirgilio; Nays: Graves, Landry), so the appointment did not proceed that night. Randy Albarez also spoke during public comment later in the meeting about an attendance policy for commissioners.
Why it matters: The actions preserve the sitting commissioner (no removal approved) and delay a proposed appointment, leaving District 4 representation on the Planning & Zoning Commission unchanged for now.
