Commissioner Joe Fields says he may leave seat as appointment looms

Joe Fields, who speaks as a commissioner during the July 9 work session, told colleagues he will be on vacation and will miss next week’s regular meeting. He noted that the Ward D seat he currently occupies has effectively expired and that Mayor Andrea Caldwell is expected to appoint a replacement.
Fields said he had spoken with the mayor, who indicated she plans to make an appointment, and he expressed appreciation for his time on the commission. “It’s been my pleasure to work with you guys and to try to help bring the city forward in a very professional manner,” Fields said. He did not indicate who the mayor intends to appoint or a firm timeline for that appointment.
Chair and colleagues thanked Fields for his service and wished him well. The commission proceeded to confirm scheduling for the next regular meeting on Thursday at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
