Antonisha Roberts, owner of Paisley Investment Properties, asked the East Point Planning and Zoning Commission on July 9 for variances to build a single‑family home at 2982 Dotson Drive.
Roberts said the lot is “approximately 17,900 square feet” and described site constraints that limit buildable area, including an irregular lot shape, an existing drainage ditch and neighboring encroachments. She said the proposed house would be about 1,850 square feet and that she is requesting variances for lot size, a reduced rear setback and additional impervious surface to accommodate a driveway.
Roberts told the commission that water‑resources staff have reviewed the property and that the site plan was adjusted based on staff guidance. “Development designs are development designed around existing conditions,” she said, and she added that public notices were mailed to property owners within 500 feet, neighborhood associations and mayor and council members, and that variance signs have been posted on the property.
Commissioners asked how Roberts planned to handle neighboring encroachments; Roberts said she preferred to “work with the system that’s already in place” rather than pursue selling encroached areas to neighbors. Commissioners also requested clearer photographs of the property; Roberts said she would bring additional photographs to the commission’s regular meeting next Thursday at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
The commission did not vote on the request at the work session; the item was scheduled to appear on the public hearing agenda at the full planning and zoning commission meeting next Thursday.
Notes on record inconsistencies: the applicant’s address appears in the transcript with variant spellings (Dotson/Datsun/Dawson Drive); the applicant self‑identified as “Antonisha Roberts.” The application’s public notice and staff review were reported as complete.
