Warrington Township ceremonially sworn in Officer Devin Yeager and honored several police officers for recent investigations and lifesaving actions at the board’s Sept. 9 meeting.
Chief Daniel Friel introduced Yeager and said she began with the department in June after graduating from the Montgomery County Community College Police Academy and earning a scholarship for community service. Judge Stacy Wertman administered the oath of office; Yeager received badge number 174 and posed for photos with family and the board.
Friel used the department’s awards ceremony to highlight the unit’s recent work, citing high clearance rates and “more than 50” community events last year. He read formal commendations for officers involved in notable incidents: an armed‑robbery response that led to a conviction; a coordinated response to a high‑risk rolling domestic incident that ended without injury; and an undercover investigation that identified suspects in firearms and prescription‑drug transactions.
The chief also recognized officers for lifesaving and crisis‑response work, including an on‑duty Heimlich maneuver that revived a choking resident and a multiagency mental‑health intervention in which officers and a mental‑health co‑responder secured emergency evaluations and de‑escalated a volatile situation without force.
The ceremony concluded with years‑of‑service recognitions, crisis‑intervention training completions and other departmental awards. The board thanked the department for its service before moving on to the evening’s agenda.
