Platteville trustees appoint Lucy Montoya to Library Board, accept 2025 audit and approve four proclamations

The Platteville Board of Trustees unanimously approved multiple routine items at its regular meeting May 19, 2026, at Town Hall, including the appointment of Lucy Montoya to the town's Library Board, acceptance of the 2025 financial audit and four annual proclamations.
Mayor Michael Cowper recommended the appointment of Lucy Montoya to the Library Board to fill a recent vacancy created by the earlier resignation (retirement) of Annette Price and the passing of Cassie Lawson. Trustee Hope Morris moved to appoint Montoya and, according to the minutes, the motion carried by consensus. The minutes state that with Montoya's appointment the Library Board will total five members, joining Patricia Patterson (chair), Ellen Toomey-Hale (vice chair), Karen Giardino (secretary) and Ricky Patterson.
Eric Miller of The Adams Group presented the Town's completed 2025 financial audit. Trustee Hope Morris moved to accept the audit report and Trustee Steve Nelson seconded; the minutes record that all members were in favor and the Board accepted the audit.
The Board also approved four annual proclamations. Trustee Larry Clark moved to proclaim April 19-25 as National Library Week, May 3-9 as National Clerks' Week, May 10-16 as National Police Week and May 17-23 as National Public Works Week; Trustee Hope Morris seconded and the minutes record unanimous approval.
Earlier on the agenda the trustees approved the meeting agenda and the consent agenda by voice votes; those motions are recorded as made by Trustee Hope Morris and seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Nick Ralston (approval of the agenda) and Trustee Steve Nelson (consent agenda), with the minutes stating all members were in favor.
Staff reports listed a Library Welcome Center/Museum under staff business and the agenda listed a Main Street Manager selection and downtown Mainstreet redevelopment under Presentations & Discussion; the minutes note those items on the agenda but contain no substantive discussion or action on them.
The meeting minutes show routine reports from the Town Manager and Mayor and state the meeting was adjourned at 8:14 p.m. The minutes were attested by the clerk and by Mayor Michael Cowper.
