During the Feb. 15 RSU 23 board meeting, Superintendent John Suttie highlighted several items for families and staff, including a student dental clinic, Teacher of the Year nominations and an upcoming budget workshop.
Suttie said 88 Old Orchard Beach students rode district buses to a University of New England dental clinic this year, a participation increase of roughly 23 students from the prior year; he estimated the clinic saved families about $14,500 compared with private care. He thanked principals and the school health team for coordinating the effort.
Suttie also congratulated Catherine Wood (High School) and Jennifer MacDonald (Jameson Elementary) for being named their schools’ Teachers of the Year and for being nominated as York County finalists.
He reminded the public that the district’s budget workshop will take place Monday, March 18 at 6 p.m.; the workshop will be livestreamed and available on local access, and the link will be included in the superintendent's monthly memo.
Board Chair Craig Evans and board member Barbara Roberge offered brief congratulations to the staff named.
