RSU 23 readies for state construction review; building projects report completed roof and other upgrades

Superintendent John Suttie told the board that the Maine Department of Education will be on the RSU 23 campus all day Thursday, Dec. 19 as the second step in the district's state construction application process. Suttie said the district's portion of the process is then complete and the board will wait for a decision expected sometime in 2025.
At the Building Needs Committee report, Peter Flaherty said the high school roof project was completed in September and that the pavilion should be complete soon. He reported tennis court work is finished, protective bollards were installed at the high school generator and the fence behind the school is nearly done.
Superintendent Suttie also congratulated the OOB High School football team on winning the state championship and thanked District Utility Worker Mark Tidd and Groundskeeper Gary Coreau for campus work preparing for winter. The board did not take a formal vote related to the construction application during the meeting; the DOE review is a procedural next step outside the board's immediate control.
