Calumet’s City Council on Jan. 21 authorized Itasca County to pay the contractor in full for the Gary Street reconstruction project and approved a $351,408.50 final payment from the city to the county.
The actions began when the council added an agenda item to authorize county payment and then later passed two related motions. Councilmember Dan Strand moved to authorize Itasca County to pay the contractor in full; the motion was seconded by Mayor Mike Troop and carried unanimously. In a separate motion, Mayor Troop moved to approve the city’s final payment to Itasca County of $351,408.50 for the Gary Street project; Councilmember Barbara Banks seconded and the motion carried.
The votes were recorded as “all in favor.” Four elected officials were present: Mayor Mike Troop and Councilmembers Dan Strand, Barbara Banks and Steve Serich; one member, Amanda Hernesman, was absent.
The approvals conclude the council’s recorded actions on the Gary Street project at this meeting. The city did not provide further detail in the minutes about the project contract terms, change-orders, or remaining retainage. The council adjourned at 7:04 p.m.
