Williams Creek Bridge to open before Memorial Day; paving, culvert and speed‑signs next

Meridian Hills — Town Engineer David Borden told the council on May 12 that the Williams Creek Bridge structure is complete, the cofferdam has been removed and the town anticipates reopening the roadway before Memorial Day.
Borden said roadway, sidewalk and drainage work remain and that crews will complete miscellaneous tasks such as tree stump removal; he anticipated the bridge would open by May 22, 2025, with resurfacing beginning about a week later. Work on related pavement projects is staged: warranty work on the 2023‑02 CCMG pavement project (striping at a raised crosswalk) was completed April 30, 2025, and the preconstruction meeting for the 2024‑02 CCMG pavement project was scheduled for May 13, 2025.
Borden also updated the council on funding applications: the Town's 2024 Indy NIP application was awarded and is being processed by DPW; the 2025 Indy NIP application (submitted Feb. 13) is pending. He reported INDOT has issued a PO for a CCMG application and is evaluating HB 1461's effect on call schedules.
On local traffic control, the council authorized spending up to $3,500 for seven new speed limit sign assemblies on 75th Street to improve corridor safety. DPW informed the town of a capital culvert replacement at 7655 Westfield Blvd that will close that portion of Westfield on or after June 2 for up to 21 days; the detour will route traffic via 75th St. to College Ave. to 86th St.
Borden said drainage complaints at 7030 N. Penn and 510 E. 75th Street are city responsibilities and that no stormwater capital projects are currently programmed for the town. The council asked Borden to follow up with DPW and to resend the speed sign exhibit and estimate to councilors.
