Simsbury zoning panel approves three freestanding sign permits

The Simsbury Zoning Commission approved three freestanding sign applications in a single consent sequence during its regular meeting.
Staff introduced each case and applicants or their agents were present. The commission approved ZC26-14, an application for a Luminary monument sign at 32–36 Iron Horse Boulevard that proposes a halo-lit, single sign larger than the Simsbury Center zone’s 16-square-foot limit (staff said the proposed monument is roughly 29 square feet). Applicant Chris Nelson said a property-line correction reduced two planned flanking signs to a single, slightly larger sign; design review had approved the sign design.
The commission then approved ZC26-16 for an approximately 18-square-foot freestanding sign for Bissellbrook Farm at 45 Hoskins Road; property owner Peter Spano told the commission he had planning approval for a farm stand and sought signage to support that use. Finally, the panel approved ZC26-17, a multi-panel monument sign (about 31.5 square feet total) for a Hot Meadow Street shopping center that will include a Chipotle tenant; agent Darcy Roy described a double-sided, externally illuminated sign with stone veneer and tenant panels.
All three motions included the standard condition that the projects be developed in substantial conformance with the stamped plan on file with the planning department; each motion carried 6-0.
