Summary

The West Stockbridge Planning Board opened its April 21, 2026 meeting at 7:01 p.m. and attempted to approve the minutes from its March 24 meeting. The board recorded a motion to approve the March minutes (1st: Jared Gelormino; 2nd: Ryan Beattie) with votes noted as Jared and Ryan in favor and Dana Bixby and Chris Tonini abstaining. The minutes state there was not a quorum available, so the motion to approve was rolled over to the next Planning Board meeting.
The board confirmed meeting dates for May 5, May 19 and June 2. In her chair report, Dana Bixby said the town's accessory-dwelling-unit (ADU) bylaw was approved by the Massachusetts Attorney General except that a parking provision bout allowing more than one space for a "protected ADU" contains problematic wording. The minutes state a non-protected ADU greater than 900 square feet could have up to three parking spaces under the current drafting, which the Attorney General flagged.
Bixby also reported the proposed short-term rental (STR) zoning regulation was denied because the town meeting vote occurred more than six months after the close of the public hearing on February 18, 2025. The minutes say the public hearing and town meeting vote for the STR zoning regulations will need to be redone to comply with the six-month limit between the close of a public hearing and a town meeting vote.
The chair requested a motion to adjourn at 8:11 p.m. (Motion: 1st Chris Tonini; 2nd Jared Gelormino). The vote was recorded as Jared yes; Andrew yes; Ryan yes, and the motion passed. The minutes were submitted by Janine Gauntt on June 14, 2026 on behalf of Clerk Ryan Beattie.
The board did not take any formal votes on policy matters related to the BRPC presentation during this meeting; follow-up work on zoning language and any acceptance of the Seasonal Communities designation would require future deliberation and, if pursued, a town meeting vote.
