Regional School District No. 20 committee reviews draft strategic plan, edits board goals

The Regional School District No. 20 Strategic Planning Committee met April 23, 2026, at Lakeview High School and via teleconference. Kara Cruoglio, chair of the Strategic Planning Committee, called the meeting to order at 5:31 p.m. and noted committee members Krista Rizzo, Margaret Hunt and Diane Barnes were present. Superintendent Jeffrey Villar, Ph.D., and Assistant Superintendent Pupil Services Julie Haggard attended.
Superintendent Jeffrey Villar presented a draft strategic plan, offering a historical review of the district's strategic planning process and outlining the district mission, a "vision of the graduate," and four proposed focal areas: programming (curriculum), school climate, facilities and financing. Villar also described a proposed process, action plan and supporting documentation tied to each of the four draft goals.
After the presentation, committee members asked clarifying questions and edited the first two draft Board goals. The committee agreed to review the edited versions and begin work on the remaining two goals at the next meeting before presenting the full draft to the full Board of Education for possible adoption.
Earlier in the meeting, Margaret Hunt moved to approve the Strategic Planning Committee special meeting minutes of Dec. 18, 2025; Krista Rizzo seconded the motion. There was no discussion and the motion passed unanimously.
With no further business, the committee adjourned at 6:50 p.m. Minutes were submitted by Christine Escobar, secretary pro-tem.
