Assistant Coordinator Lauren Wheeler presented the coordinators' report to the Litchfield Social Service Board on April 23, detailing recent program activity across energy assistance, the food pantry, holiday meal distributions, community giving and the senior Christmas party.
Wheeler reported that 97 applications for the state energy assistance program have been processed and that staff will canvass Wells Run; the program was listed as ending May 30. For the food pantry, staff noted continued support from Connecticut Food Share as well as local donations.
On holiday support, the minutes say Wisdom House, funded via the Benas Grant, prepared and delivered 50 Thanksgiving and 47 Christmas cooked meals to residents; extra meals were supplied to Troop L and LVA. Community giving during the Christmas season involved 12 local businesses using ‘stars on trees’ to serve 36 families and approximately 100 children; the Knights of Columbus donated winter jackets. The senior Christmas party was co-hosted with the Salvation Army and served both Litchfield and Morris residents, drawing 129 attendees; catering was provided by a person listed as ‘Gia,’ and entertainment was provided by the KC Sisters. The Salvation Army provided party favors, blankets and socks.
The minutes list several upcoming events: a May renters' rebate, a June farmers market, a September health and wellness tag sale, and a Wisdom House senior exercise class planned for late fall. There were no public comments recorded during the meeting.
Votes recorded in the meeting were procedural: the board approved the Oct. 30, 2025 minutes (motion by Lauren Wheeler; second by Elisa Bauer; unanimously passed) and later approved a motion to adjourn (motion by April Blasavage; second by Amy Fitzpatrick; unanimously passed). The meeting was transcribed by Elisa Bauer and adjourned at 4:36 p.m.
