The change would increase the county's portion of the tax from the long-standing 5% rate to 8%. Councilors spoke briefly in support, noting the revenue'raising potential and how the additional dollars could be used to reduce other funding pressures; one member expressed reservations about increasing the rate but was outvoted. Staff indicated they will assign the ordinance number after adoption and noted the ordinance language was presented at the meeting.
The adoption updates the county's existing innkeeper's tax ordinance; any implementation details and revenue allocation will proceed according to county procedures and future budget decisions.
