Cook Memorial Library trustees were told the library will install an accessibility lift starting the week of March 16, with an estimated completion date of March 31 and a required State inspection after installation. The Building & Grounds committee reported the library plans to remain open during the work but will limit access to areas where construction is occurring.
The committee noted the schedule and inspection requirement during the March 9, 2026 trustees meeting. The Finance committee said it is holding off on moving discretionary continuing-education funds until the lift installation is complete in case those funds are needed for the project; the committee reported a current balance of $152.85 earmarked for staff continuing education.
Trustees and committee members did not record a detailed cost estimate in the minutes. The board will proceed with the installation and await the State inspection before declaring the lift operational. Trustees are scheduled to discuss construction impacts and any funding needs at upcoming meetings.
