Stratford selectboard accepts maintenance resignation, posts job and discusses property-assessment and road plans

The Town of Stratford Selectboard on Feb. 10, 2025 acknowledged the resignation of a maintenance employee identified in the record as Ryan and voted to post the vacancy to recruit a replacement.
Suzanne Goulet reported the resignation and led the board through its annual personnel-policy review. The board found the policy aligns with state and federal law, made no substantive policy changes and corrected a typo in the vacation-hours language; the meeting record notes a clarified requirement that employees provide four weeks' notice of resignation.
Goulet said the town has scheduled a Microsoft Teams meeting on Kimball Brook that will review the history of a local dam and explain why it was removed; Selectman Clayton Macdonald will attend to gather background.
On enforcement and assessment issues, Goulet reported that Marbina Woods land-management staff have not responded to town requests to allow the assessor on to a parcel for inspection. The board discussed the option of using a warrant to access the property and agreed the town may need to seek legal advice before proceeding.
Goulet also updated the board on a dog-registration matter, saying Mr. Rainville told the town his second dog will be registered by the April deadline and that the escape was accidental. The board accepted that timeline as a compliance plan.
Selectman Harry Juergens said he is continuing work on updated road maps. Goulet and Macdonald noted the town's prior road-maintenance plan is now obsolete; Suzanne said Mike Lynch will handle road work going forward with volunteer help from Steve LaFrance.
At the end of the meeting the board approved manifests for Jan. 27 and Feb. 3, 2025 by a 3-0 vote and recorded signed documents including the Town Warrant 2025, MS-636, Tax Map Maintenance paperwork and a Drummond Woodsum records-release form. The board listed no items under old or new business. The meeting adjourned at 5:30 PM; minutes were prepared by Vanessa Toner.
