Stratford selectboard elects Charles Goulet chair, approves hiring and administrative actions

Charles (Charlie) Goulet was elected chair of the Stratford Selectboard at the board’s March 24, 2025 meeting, the board recorded. The motion to elect Goulet was put forward by Ron A. Scott Jr. and seconded by Harry Juergens; Juergens presided over the March 24 meeting while Goulet will serve as chair for the remainder of the year.
Town staff said the board voted unanimously, 3-0, to proceed with the candidate the board identified for the Maintenance/Public Works position; Suzanne Goulet will contact the candidate and move the hiring process forward. The selectboard also instructed staff to draft certified letters to the owners of the Marbina Woods property, the parcel’s land manager and the parcel’s financial advisor; the letters will include additional information from the town attorney and will be mailed certified, with board members signing the letters once drafted.
The board approved the payroll/expense manifest for March 10 and March 17, 2025, by voice vote (3-0). Meeting records show signed items included a reservation form for Fournier and North Country ATV, a junkyard application for J. Stone, ten oaths of office and an MS-232 filing. Chair Goulet said transfer station hours will remain unchanged; he also reported purchasing locks and ordering new signs for the transfer station.
Meeting minutes show the board chose not to apply a sealant to the Hollow basketball court at this time. Suzanne Goulet said the town had opened the topic after voters declined a replacement at the annual meeting; the selectboard voted against applying a sealant now and will inspect the court in person before deciding whether to repair or remove it.
The meeting adjourned at 4:35 p.m.
