Slinger forestry report: inventory completed, DNR inspection passed under Urban Forestry grant
Summary
The board heard that Wachtel Tree Science completed the village tree inventory, the Village passed a DNR tree-planting inspection for the 2025 Urban Forestry grant, and staff will continue watering and maintenance of recently planted trees.
Director Tony Dobson read a forestry report prepared by Supervisor Josh Feller updating the Board on tree-management work and grant activity.
Dobson said the Village tree inventory was completed by Wachtel Tree Science & Service and staff are making final additions within the village GIS. He reported the Village passed the DNR tree-planting field inspection tied to the 2025 Urban Forestry grant and that the majority of the grant will cover the cost of Josh Feller attending the Wisconsin Community Tree Management Institute. Staff will continue weekly watering of trees planted this spring and will perform sucker and ground-growth trimming later in the month.
The update is procedural and informational; no policy changes or funding authorizations were made at the Aug. 4 meeting. The Board recorded the report and will incorporate the inventory and grant-related activities into ongoing park- and tree-management planning.
