Slinger parks board previews 2026 budget, considers $20,500 bid to update five-year park plan

The Parks, Recreation & Forestry Board of the Village of Slinger discussed potential capital projects for the 2026 budget and a vendor bid to update the Village’s five-year park and open-space plan at its Aug. 4 meeting.
Director Tony Dobson told the Board he did not yet have projected 2026 budget numbers and said he will email a proposed budget to members for discussion before the Sept. 8 meeting. Board members raised a range of possible capital priorities for next year, including a Rotary Park pavilion expansion, a storage shed and basketball courts at Breuer Park, and a natural playground at Fireman’s Park.
Dobson reported he has received a bid from Vandewalle & Associates to update the five-year park and open-space plan at a cost of $20,500. He said the proposal includes additional options, such as a community park site design plan and an online community survey; those options will be discussed at the September budget meeting.
Votes at a glance: the Board approved routine procedural motions recorded in the minutes, including approval of the June 2, 2025 minutes and an agenda amendment to move the Fireman’s Park discussion to the end of the meeting. Specific budget figures for 2026 were not available at the meeting and will be circulated to board members by email.
The Board did not make any final funding decisions at the Aug. 4 meeting; Dobson will return with budget projections and more detail on the park-plan options in September.
