Saint Paul’s food distribution to move to Sage Park every other Friday beginning Sept. 11

The Berlin Parks & Recreation Commission heard July 9 that Saint Paul's food pantry and drive‑through distribution will relocate to Sage Park starting Sept. 11 and will operate every other Friday, subject to occasional schedule changes for holidays.
Staff described logistics: the distribution will be staged near the Stage 1 entrance with two trucks (one serving fresh food and one distributing prepackaged pantry bags); staff estimated each event serves between about 150 and 250 people and that traffic often lines up before the distribution start (staff said people sometimes line up at 8–8:30 a.m. for an 11–11:30 a.m. service). The town said staff and the mayor met with Saint Paul's and that Saint Paul's agreed to remain at Sacred Heart through the summer paving work, then move to Sage Park once paving allows. Commission members said signage will be used to guide traffic and staff will coordinate with Saint Paul's to avoid conflict with other park activities.
The commission noted this is an open distribution for the wider area — staff said anyone can pick up food — and asked staff to ensure operations and parking flow are coordinated as paving and other park work continue.
