CDA authorizes $27,000 LEED verification and consulting contract for Raider Services

The DeForest Community Development Authority voted on July 9 to authorize the executive director to execute a proposal with Sole Consulting and Design to provide LEED verification and design support for the Raider Services project.
Staff said the project had initially targeted a higher green-building standard under a 9% tax-credit scenario but scaled back some design goals for cost reasons; LEED Silver remains a target and requires third-party verification. Staff said Sole Consulting and Design was recommended by the construction manager and mechanical/electrical/plumbing contractors and that the firm could assist both with verification and with identifying energy-incentive opportunities during design. The proposal included full-scope services for a proposed fee of $27,000.
A board member asked whether other firms were solicited; staff said there are few firms in the state that perform this specialized LEED verification and that HGA (a national firm with a Madison-area office) was contacted but ultimately not available. Staff offered to circulate LEED criteria to the board for reference. A motion to authorize the executive director to execute the Sole Consulting and Design proposal was moved, seconded and approved on a verbal vote.
Next steps: staff will execute the contract and integrate Sole's input into upcoming design meetings and coordination with the MEP team.
