Contractors have installed the Swamp Rabbit Trail pedestrian bridge over Verde Boulevard, and city officials said the structure is slated to open this fall after paving and safety features are finished.
"Contractors installed the Swamp Rabbit Trail pedestrian bridge over Verde Boulevard. It's slated to open in the fall after paving and safety features are finished," Henry Coburn, a city staff member, said during the briefing. Coburn also reported that Greenville County "says it will pave from Verde to CU I CAR within 60 days of completion."
The bridge is part of the Swamp Rabbit Trail expansion effort; the city did not provide a firm opening date or details about final safety certifications. The county's 60-day paving commitment was reported by the city; the briefing did not include direct remarks from county officials or a contractor schedule.
The city said the bridge will open after paving and safety work are complete and that it will share updates when a firm opening date is set.
