Carrie Mylan, representing 2 Peaks Fitness, gave the board a quarterly report on the Walsenburg fitness center, describing membership trends, staffing changes and outreach plans.
Mylan said the gym’s staff hours changed July 1 to split shifts (8–11 a.m. and 4–7 p.m.) to better cover busier periods and to reduce payroll costs. She said they plan to train a participant from the Senior Community Service Employment Program to help cover non‑staffed hours.
On membership, Mylan said memberships have been relatively stable this year, typically between about 110 and 120; she cited a recent month with 890 facility sign‑ins. She noted April and June are typically stronger months and winter is the highest usage period.
Mylan reported approximately 30% of memberships are low‑income (34 of 115 members) and that operating account balances were lower than at the end of March due to one‑time staffing and PTO costs associated with an employee departure. Commissioners suggested additional targeted mailings and outreach; Mylan said a mailing in October 2024 increased memberships and she will discuss a new mailing and flyer with the gym’s board.
The board thanked Mylan for the report; no action was required beyond the informational presentation.
