Cushing selectmen approve warrants, accept tree-trimming and sale bids

The board approved Warrants #25 and #26 and approved the minutes of June 27, 2016 (Heidi Alley abstained from the minutes vote). Chairman Alton Grover described a quote from Hoppe's Tree Service: Tim Hoppe offered to trim trees on Hathorne Point Road for $2,400, including cutting, chipping and hauling with three crew members, a chip truck and a boom truck; the Selectmen voted to accept the quote pending verification of proof of insurance.
The board opened two bids for town assets. Chairman Grover read a bid from Gary Grant offering $3,000 (with the required $500 cashier’s check) for Map 006 Lot 005; Selectman Daniel Staples moved to accept the bid and the motion carried 5-0-0. The single bid for the snow-plow truck, from Don Meklin & Sons, was $5,001; the Selectmen voted to accept that bid as well.
Chair Grover noted the town previously received no bids for the fire truck and reported the town has an Alabama-based resale outfit that can assist with sales on commission. No further action was taken at the meeting on the fire truck. The meeting adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
