Saastamoinen told the Assessors' chairman that a title search and survey showed John Young apparently owns several acres on the western side of the brook; the land had been taxed historically by Saastamoinen and the Orffs. Saastamoinen said he contacted John Young and that Young agreed to sell the parcel, but liens recorded against Young's property reference the book and page that list the newly discovered lot, leaving potential buyers and the town uncertain about lien exposure.
Chairman of the Assessors Daniel Remian told the selectmen the assessors could make the lot a separate parcel now that a survey exists and suggested discussing the matter with Assessors' Agent Garnett Robinson after the commitment. The board recommended that Saastamoinen consult his attorney, and the town will seek legal advice about whether a portion of a property can be exempted from a lien or otherwise separated in a way that clears title for sale.
No formal action was taken at the meeting; the item will be placed on the next agenda for further consideration after legal review.
