Cushing Selectmen approve warrants, roll cemetery CD and authorize new clerk computer

The Town of Cushing Selectmen approved a suite of routine administrative measures at their Oct. 24, 2016 meeting at the Cushing Community Center, including a financial move for a cemetery fund and the purchase of a second office computer.
Town Treasurer and Clerk Lisa M. Young told the board that the Burton Cemetery certificate of deposit at Rockland Savings was maturing and that she had checked local banks for competitive rates. Young recommended rolling the funds into a 10‑month CD at Rockland Savings at an annual percentage yield of 0.025, saying Rockland Savings, First and Machias Savings Bank offered essentially the same rates. Selectman Daniel Staples moved to roll the CD into the 10‑month account, Selectman Martha Marchut seconded, and the motion carried 4-0-0.
The board also approved Warrant #38, #39 and #40. Selectman Daniel Staples moved to approve the warrants, Selectman Laurie Haynes seconded and the motion carried 4-0-0. Selectman Martha Marchut moved to approve the minutes of the Oct. 10, 2016 meeting, Selectman Daniel Staples seconded and that motion also carried 4-0-0.
On administrative technology needs, Town Clerk Lisa M. Young said two clerks in the office made sharing one computer difficult and recommended purchasing a second machine from local vendor Don Fowles, who has served as the town's computer support. Young noted the town’s computer account balance of $4,231.08 available for the purchase. Selectman Daniel Staples moved to approve the purchase, Selectman Laurie Haynes seconded, and the motion carried 4-0-0.
The board signed the warrant for the Nov. 8, 2016 municipal referendum election. The meeting adjourned at 7:15 P.M. after a final motion by Selectman Daniel Staples, seconded by Selectman Laurie Haynes, which carried 4-0-0.
