Whitemarsh board approves dissolution of Veterans Monument Foundation and creates dedicated maintenance account

The Whitemarsh Board of Supervisors on July 7 voted to accept the dissolution of the Veterans Monument Foundation and to take responsibility for the future maintenance and improvement of the monument.
Chair Tull introduced the Foundation’s request and welcomed Sarah Erlbaum and Eileen Baer from the Veterans Monument Foundation. Erlbaum told the board that, if approved, next steps would include filing paperwork with the Attorney General’s office to effect the nonprofit dissolution and transfer of funds and responsibilities to the township. She said the foundation currently holds funds intended for monument maintenance and an element of the original plan (a bell); in public remarks she referred to “approximately $100,000” related to installation and maintenance.
The board approved resolution 2026‑10 to dissolve the nonprofit and accept transfer of remaining funds, and then approved resolution 2026‑11 to establish a new dedicated bank account for monument maintenance and improvements. Both motions carried by voice vote.
The board asked staff to ensure the transfer and the newly established account follow the solicitor’s guidance and any statutory requirements for nonprofit dissolution and municipal receipt of gifts.
What happens next: Staff will coordinate with the township solicitor and the Attorney General’s office to finalize the legal steps for dissolution, accept the funds, and place them in the dedicated maintenance account.
