Board approves bundled human-resources items; several service agreements set for second reading

At the July 7 meeting the board approved a bundled package of human-resources items following a motion by Mr. Haynes and a second by Mr. Grigsby. The motion was approved by roll call with recorded votes: Mr. Haynes: yes; Mr. Grigsby: yes; Mr. Vaca: yes; Mr. Waffeland: yes.
The human-resources items presented for approval included NREA supplemental contracts, four non-NREA supplemental contracts, unpaid volunteer recognitions and several administrative resignations and contract recommendations. The motion consolidated those items into a single approval and the board adopted the motion by roll call.
Staff also presented a series of first-reading consent items that will return for second reading and consideration at the July 21 regular meeting. Those items include renewals and agreements for specialized educational services with New Story Schools and Trust the Journey Academy, an interagency agreement with Lorain County to support early-childhood transition services, a renewal with the Murray Ridge Center for preschool special-education services, a distance-education agreement with the East Central Ohio Educational Service Center for American Sign Language instruction, and the district goals for 2026-27.
Buildings-and-grounds items presented as first readings included a contract recommendation with Tran USA Inc. to upgrade Liberty Elementary's building automation system and a recommendation to renew the district insurance policy for 2026-27 through the Ohio School Plan with Love Insurance Agency.
Mr. Grigsby reported several donations from the RHD PTO, listing line items and amounts to be accepted by the board as part of the communications report.
