Silver Creek Township introduces new clerk, updates banking and approves payroll correction contract

The Silver Creek Township Board of Supervisors on June 2 introduced Sara Nelson as the township’s new clerk/treasurer and approved several administrative changes intended to transition office responsibilities.

Chair Helman said the board would add Sara Nelson to the township’s CorTrust Bank account, issue a township credit card to her with a $6,000 limit, remove former clerk Johann Massman from the account and cancel the credit card in his name; Supervisor Christensen seconded the motion. The motion is recorded in the minutes as “Carried 2-0 -1 (Supervisor Nelson).”

The board also authorized the clerk to sign a contract with ABDO for up to $5,000 to correct payroll errors after Supervisor Christensen moved the measure and Chair Helman seconded it; the minutes record that motion as carried 3-1. The board approved the May 19, 2026 meeting minutes and a motion to publicly list the two supervisor positions up for reelection.

The minutes state that outgoing clerk Johann Massman will share passwords with Sara Nelson and that Chair Helman will update the driveway-ordinance form to include the escrow fee. Clerk training for Sara Nelson, at a cost of $60, was approved.

The board approved routine disbursements totaling $36,824.61 and listed audit claims, including payments to Ludenia Landscaping, Menards, Klatt True Value Rental and the Town Law Center.

What happens next: the banking changes and issued card require CorTrust Bank processing; the ABDO contract may be executed by the clerk up to the $5,000 limit noted in the minutes.
