Residents from 150th Street, including Ryan Olsen, told the board they were disappointed that the street was removed from this year’s repair list. They raised concerns about the cost of Calcium Chloride treatment and delays connected to the Locke Lake Watershed study. After discussion of tradeoffs — including whether to apply chip seal over gravel or to invest in a pricier Ultra Bond product for greater durability — the board approved a motion to prepare bids for Curtis, Clementa and Barton Avenues and for 155th, 159th and 134th Streets, with 150th Street included as an alternate bid for both treatment options. The motion carried 4-0.
Board members noted sympathy for residents whose repairs were deferred, and discussed the wisdom of improving roads that may soon be excavated for culvert work. The motion directs the engineer to prepare bid documents; no contract awards or schedules were recorded at this meeting.
