Holland Board reviews enforcement items, roads, parks and community forums

During its June 8 meeting the Town of Holland Board reviewed several ongoing enforcement and operational items, directed follow-up actions, and heard committee updates.

Clerk-Treasurer Janelle Kaiser reported the Town Attorney sent a certified letter on March 12 to the owners of N1099 Cole Road regarding an alleged short-term rental ordinance violation; the Town has not received a response and the letter appears to have been mailed to the incorrect address. Chair David Huenink previously followed up with the Town Attorney and had not received a response as of the meeting. The board noted the matter remains under review.

The board acknowledged a complaint from a property owner at Lot 29 Prospekt Blvd (parcel 59006077700) about a school bus parked at the lot; the board confirmed the ordinance violations tied to that complaint were corrected as of June 8 and will remove the item from future agendas until further notice.

Regarding a separate possible ordinance violation at W3070 Hoitink Road, the board had previously reached consensus to ask the Town Attorney to send a letter informing the property owner of the Town’s intent to pursue legal action if a response was not received within 30 days; the minutes note that letter has not yet been sent.

On public-safety and maintenance matters, Supervisor Douglas Hamilton reported a new boat-launch sign installed at Amsterdam Park and that he will seek estimates to remove fallen or potentially hazardous trees in Amsterdam Cemetery; Director of Public Works Kevin Hilbelink’s monthly roads report was included in the packet. Supervisors reported a washout near a culvert on Hoftiezer Road needs repair and the transportation committee will meet to discuss 2026 road projects and scheduling. A resident reported speeding dump trucks on County Road K; Supervisor Benjamin Morrison contacted the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department to request targeted enforcement and signs labeling parking regulations at the end of Foster Road have been ordered.

Chair Huenink also summarized county materials on possible county-wide ATV/UTV regulations and data center moratorium ideas shared at a Wisconsin Towns Association meeting; he said he would email the information to interested board members. Clerk-Treasurer Kaiser noted UW-Extension community forums on June 17 and 18 and said invites were emailed to board and plan commission members.
