Plan Commission flags possible motel license lapse, directs county follow-up

The Town of Holland Plan Commission on May 4, 2026 directed Clerk Janelle Kaiser to contact Sheboygan County after a property owner of N666 County Road LL said the facility was not renting units for longer than one week, rentals were paid weekly, and the owner was not aware their Sheboygan County motel license had expired.
Commission records show a third certified-letter inquiry about the property was sent April 21, 2026. The property owner contacted the clerk by phone on April 28 and described weekly rentals and payment practices; the Plan Commission instructed the clerk to report that information to Sheboygan County for follow-up on licensing and compliance.
Separately, Commissioner Roy Teunissen asked about enforcement at W3070 Hoitink Road; Chair David Huenink reported the Town Board sent a cease-and-desist letter to that property owner on March 13, 2026. The building inspector also noted a camping trailer with a large removable wooden awning on a Dewitt Road property; the owner told the inspector the trailer is used seasonally for vacations and deer hunting and that the awning is removable.
The commission did not record additional enforcement actions at this meeting; the clerk was directed to provide the County with the information gathered from the contact on April 28.
