The Mitchell County Board of Supervisors approved multiple administrative items July 7, including appointments, event permits, equipment use for the county fair and routine finance reports.
On appointments, the board voted to appoint Jim Overflow Overflow to the county Conservation Board after discussion about geographic representation among current members; one supervisor expressed a preference for broader countywide representation but the appointment passed. The board also approved Lou Anne Murphy as the county's representative to the Metro County Economic and Development Commission, a seat previously held by Ralph Wires.
The board approved a fireworks permit submitted by Terry Haugen (Hogan) after staff confirmed the application and insurance were in order. Supervisors also authorized the county secondary roads department to provide a motor grader and a volunteer operator to help prepare fair track surfaces, with members noting the arrangement relies on volunteer availability and existing county equipment.
In financial business, the treasurer presented June figures and summary totals: motor vehicle and registration collections and related state remittances, a property-tax-related tax sale that brought $80,005.71, interest on investments of $68,280.27, and total revenues processed for June of $1,512,170.33. The board moved to accept the treasurer’s report.
The auditors’ quarterly report listing disbursements (including passport fees and other small items) totaling $3,008.77 was presented and approved. The meeting closed with routine items of note and a readout of manure management plan filings for multiple finishing farms in the county.
