The Horicon Public Library Board elected its officers and completed a slate of routine approvals and personnel confirmations during its April 13, 2026 meeting.
Board President Kris Ries called the meeting to order at 6:34 p.m. and the board confirmed officer roles: Kris Ries as president; Kristine Mattila as vice president; Kathy Galvin as secretary; Lisa Bischoff as treasurer; Teresa Graven as school liaison; Lisa Sullivan as city council liaison (excused); and Karen Halsema as a member.
The board approved the March 9, 2026 meeting minutes on a motion by Kris Ries, seconded by Kristine Mattila. Treasurer-related motions carried and included approval of March transaction and account balances (motion by Karen Halsema, seconded by Lisa Bischoff), approval of March petty cash balances (motion by Kathy Galvin, seconded by Teresa Graven) and payment of April bills totaling $4,550.43 (motion by Lisa Bischoff, seconded by Teresa Graven). Each motion was recorded as "motion carried"; specific vote tallies were not specified in the minutes.
On personnel matters the board confirmed the hiring of Allison Butler as Library Assistant, effective April 6, 2026, at 20 hours per week at $15.00 per hour with a $0.50 raise after a satisfactory six-month probationary period; the appointment is conditional on a satisfactory background check by the Horicon Police Department. The board also confirmed hiring Gracie Wiseman as Library Clerk, effective April 13, 2026, for an average of 11 hours per week at $12.50 per hour with a $0.50 probationary raise; the position includes prorated vacation hours for 2026 and is conditional on a satisfactory background check.
