Dr. Williams, who attended from a concurrent school committee meeting, said a working group is retooling an "incident reporting" placeholder into a standing assessment of school climate and culture that will use Panorama, youth risk behavior survey data and affinity‑group outreach. "We're looking at our youth risk behavior survey data," Dr. Williams said, adding that Panorama provides yearly data and the working group hopes to present recommendations to the school committee by fall.
Commissioner Rose moved that the DEI Commission request school district representatives share the Panorama data and related findings with the commission; the motion was seconded and carried by voice/roll‑call. Commissioners discussed next steps for a formal request and suggested the chair contact the superintendent to arrange a presentation.
Members emphasized the request was intended for high‑level presentation and community understanding, not a punitive hearing. The commission will follow up by drafting an official request and coordinating timing with the school district and the superintendent's office.
