Warren committee outlines 2026 trail maintenance plan, flags impassable Glenhurst sections

The Warren Township Open Space Committee said DPW acquired a trail-clearing machine last spring and that main trails — Coddington, Dealaman and Glenhurst — were cleared in 2025, although three west Glenhurst trails remain chronically wet and not machine-passable.
Committee members described the 2026 maintenance plan as a March major cleanup followed by weekly maintenance beginning in April, plus installation of rectangular trail markers to be done by DPW in the spring. Bill Gilbert will coordinate schedules with DPW representative Doug Burrow and clarify permits and the exact trails included in the plan (for example, Glenhurst North).
On the three wet west Glenhurst trails, the committee discussed remedies including imported fill or rock, short boardwalks in problem segments, or designating those routes as seasonal and not part of routine machine maintenance. Members agreed to walk the areas with DPW once weather permits and to consider issuing an RFP for fixes if needed.
The committee also discussed trail signage and maps: DPW will move the Coddington sign closer to the road and confirm whether kiosks and reprinted maps fall under Recreation or Engineering. No funding changes to DPW trail work were recorded; members noted DPW trail work is funded from the DPW budget rather than the Open Space Committee's operating funds.
