The Hibbing Public School District board voted June 17 to adopt the district's FY27 budget and to approve a revised FY26 budget.
Both budget motions were approved unanimously. Director Gabardi moved to approve the FY26 revised budget and Director Egan supported the motion; Director McLaughlin moved to approve the adopted FY27 budget and Director Egan supported that motion.
At the same meeting the board approved the consent agenda, which included the June 3, 2026 meeting minutes; financials for May 2026 (claims totaling $1,562,912.58, electronic fund transfers of $489,123.32 and payrolls totaling $1,904,216.81); and personnel items. The minutes record acceptance of resignations from Nick Seppala (JV boys soccer coach, effective May 19, 2026), Samantha Rozinka (Early Childhood Special Education Teacher, effective Aug. 30, 2026), and Elizabeth Scipioni (4th grade teacher, Lincoln, retirement effective Sept. 19, 2026), and the hiring of Sara Paolo as a Special Education Teacher at Lincoln effective Aug. 31, 2026.
The minutes do not attach dollar amounts to the FY26 revised or FY27 adopted budgets in the text of the minutes; budget documents are referenced as "presented." Further budgetary documents and detailed line-item breakdowns were not included in the minutes and would need to be obtained from the district business office for detailed analysis.
The board adjourned at 5:15 p.m.
