Council OKs Moves Toward School Zone, Accessible Signals and Intersection Upgrades

Council also ratified Resolution 57 — the submission of a $48,000 Pennsylvania Department of Transportation grant application to fund accessible/audible pedestrian signals at three intersections (Commonwealth & Forester, 7th & Forester, and Boas & Commonwealth). Staff said the grant was submitted June 30 in cooperation with state partners and would help visually impaired pedestrians at busy corridors.
Finally, Council reviewed a routine Resolution 58 authorizing disposal, sale or recycling of city property that has exhausted useful life; public-works staff explained trade‑in and sale practices.
Next steps: Bill 11 and Resolutions 57 and 58 were moved to the next legislative session for formal consideration.
