Council introduces salary ordinance; hearing set for Aug. 25

The Ogdensburg Borough Council on Aug. 8 introduced Ordinance 04-2022, a salary ordinance establishing minimum and maximum salary ranges for borough offices and employees and repealing prior salary ordinances.
Councilwoman Cowdrick moved to introduce Ordinance 04-2022, entitled "AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE SALARIES OF THE OFFICES AND EMPLOYEES OF THE BOROUGH OF OGDENSBURG AND REPEALING PRIOR ORDINANCES THEREFORE," and Councilman DeMeo seconded. A public hearing on the ordinance is scheduled for Aug. 25, 2022.
Borough Attorney Robert McBriar described minor edits to the ordinance designed to clarify its effective date and correct a minimum-wage entry that would have set a clerk-typist below minimum wage. "Those edits were basically to clarify that this is going to be effective based upon publication of this ordinance in accordance with law," McBriar said, adding that salary ranges are established in the ordinance and actual pay rates are set by resolution.
The motion to introduce the ordinance passed by roll call: Yeas: Alvarez, Cowdrick, DeMeo, Nasisi; Nays: None; Absent: Poyer.
A public hearing and final adoption vote are scheduled for the Aug. 25 meeting, when the council will consider any public comment and a final roll-call vote.
