Ogdensburg council approves $5,000 annual pay increase for borough clerk

The Ogdensburg mayor and council approved a $5,000 annual salary increase for Municipal Clerk Robin Hough at their Sept. 12, 2022 regular meeting.
Resolution 54-2022, adopted as part of the consent agenda, raises Hough’s salary from $67,110.80 to $72,110.80. Fifty percent of the increase ($2,500) became effective Sept. 12, 2022 and the remaining $2,500 will take effect Jan. 1, 2023, according to the resolution language presented at the meeting.
Councilwoman Cowdrick moved to approve the consent agenda and Councilman Poyer seconded; the roll call recorded Yeas from Cowdrick, DeMeo and Poyer and no recorded Nays. The meeting transcript contains an inconsistent attendance line that lists Councilwoman Cowdrick as both voting and absent; the council’s recorded vote on the consent agenda shows the measure carried.
The increase was presented in the form of a standard personnel resolution describing Hough’s tenure (employed since Nov. 13, 2017) and noting Council’s determination that the raise was in the borough’s interest. The resolution took immediate effect upon passage for the first half of the increase and scheduled the second half for the beginning of the next calendar year.
No public comment or debate on the salary item was recorded before the council adopted the consent agenda.
